Our Work
Affordable Legal Services
The core of ACLC’s mission is to make legal services radically more affordable. We charge sliding-scale fees based on our clients' income, below what most other attorneys charge.

Other Civil Litigation
You may have been sued or need to sue someone for a reason not listed above.

Fighting for Justice
We seek solutions for systemic injustice.
We file impact litigation to challenge government and corporate policies that hurt our client community, such as police abuse (seen in the photos above), the First Amendment, the Fair Housing Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
These cases are expensive. ACLC is able to file them thanks to the help of donors. Your support helps us do more.
We also work to reform government policy. For instance, in 2017-18, we worked with community groups to push the City of Austin for improved oversight and accountability for police misconduct.
We were ultimately successful.
Community Investment

We bring help to places people need it.

We invest in the community through legal seminars, clinics, and other education.

We have organized dozens of volunteer attorneys to join legal clinics for parents at Austin schools, and improved families’ security by executing powers of attorney, advanced designations of guardianship, authorization for nonparent adult caregivers, and wills.

Most low-income families don’t have these important resources in place, and there are few resources to help satisfy the need. The legal clinic model organizers volunteers to offer thousands of dollars in value to each family served.
